Yay for surviving 25 hours of work in 2 days!

And as a reward for surviving, I went out and got myself some Eggs to go with my hatchling! ) On the down side, while I was in the middle of my 16 hour shift yesterday, some idiot lady in a PT Cruiser decided to bang her way through the parking lot. She hit a handicap-spot pole, jumped over said pole, pushed my car across the driving lane almost to the sidewalk, and went right into the side of the car beside mine, which happened to belong to the manager of the Rent-A-Center next door. Luckily, my car seems to be fine, especially since I haven't had the energy to contact my insurance company yet (might take my ex-paralegal landlady up on her offer to do so for me..). But the RAC guy needs his passenger side doors replaced and possibly some other stuff. All she needs on her RENTAL CAR is a new front fender because she cracked it when she hit mine. Grr hatred of stupid people.

I so need to go to sleep right now. So what am I doing instead? Poking at my dragon eggs and re-reading Self-Reliance for the umpteenth time, even tho I know exactly what happens when and how, and it's gonna be perpetually unfinished just like most of her stuff. And my stomach is being all weird and I'm not quite sure why.

Ten Random Facts Meme

* Each blogger starts with ten random facts/habits about him/herself.
* Bloggers whom are tagged need to write on their own blog about their ten things and post these rules.
* At the end of your blog, you need to choose ten people to get tagged and list their names.

1. I am obsessed with cross-stitching. I almost always have at least one stitching project going on. Right now it is little ornaments for my parents' church bazaar.

2. I LOVE banana milkshakes.

3. I prefer hardcover books to paperback. This is mainly due to the fact that, if I am going to invest in a book that I will read over and over again, I'd rather it be a copy that will stand up to my reading habits.

4. I am very interested in the connections between alchemy and psychology.

5. I have hugged Vic Mignogna. Oddly enough, I prefer Travis Willingham/Roy Mustang lol.

6. I don't like rap or hiphop.

7. I love photography and would make a career of it if I could. HA!

8. I identify most closely with wolves and dragons.

9. I want to go to Ireland, England, Scotland, Germany and Japan sometime in the next 5 years. Preferably before I have kids.

10. I am seriously craving chocolate cake with peanut butter icing right now. Except I don't have any and they didn't have any at Giant.

Tagging whoever out there hasn't done this and is as bored as I am lol.

What were you doing on September 11th, 2001? How do the events of that day hold meaning for you now?

I was in Chapel at Messiah College where I was a freshman. Before they started the service, they announced that the first tower had just been hit. Of course, this apparently wasn't big enough news to cancel Chapel, so it went on as usual with all of us wondering what was going on and half of us in shock. When Chapel ended, they announced that the second tower had been hit (Chapel was only like half an hour long even on a normal day) and sent us off to class. I had Introduction to Psychology. Our prof led us in a short prayer and then sent us back to our dorms. We had one of the only TVs on the floor, so there were at least 10 girls crammed into our triple watching the footage. Thankfully, I didn't loose anyone, but it was still very shocking and scary.

"Oh leave me alone, or I'll tear up your phone, and you'll hear all the cantaloupe pray! The bellbottoms herd, and encourage the birds, and my eyes are not crowded but gray. BONES, BONES FOR THE STRANGE!"

Yeah, I found one of my old Beatles fics I used to read and decided to reread it. Of course, it's all kinds of crack lol. De-aging, dimension hopping, magic filled crack. *watches winged John Lennon run around on the ocean while Paul McCartney blows up on the beach* Oh, and I'm gonna kill my manager. I think being an hour late and not apologizing for leaving me alone in the store for 3 HOURS counts as justifiable, ne? Granted, I got a call 20 minutes after he was supposed to be there, but still. *pigeon!George Harrison flies from giant rabbits in Central Park as Ringo Starr teleports from rabid fans*

Yup, all kinds of crack. I need a shower.

So I'm in the back yesterday getting something out of the cage or something - I don't remember exactly what I was doing - and Andrew, our new manager, asks me if I've ever considered becoming a Manager in Training. Took so much control not to laugh in his face. Seriously, I would not survive that; Person in Charge is enough stress and aggravation for me, thankyouverymuch. Plus I like not having to always be the bad guy who orders my co-workers around. If I'm gonna be management material, it'll be in my own business. And my wrist and legs are all messed up right now from spending 4 hours moving planogrammed merchandise 4-8 feet down the wall and putting it back. Really inspires me to make RadioShack my career people. Seriously.

*falls over*

Besides being around for the fallout of Leah's (lovingyouin1963) crazy bad week, I found out when I called my grandmother today that my great-uncle passed away this morning. We knew it was coming, but it's still sadness.

On the plus side, our little thief at work got fired on Wednesday, and yesterday we got our new manager. And he knows what he's doing! Amazing how much that impresses me after less than 2 months with an incompetent lol.

I'm backing away from the dragons for a bit. Even when I get my eggs to hatch, all I seem to do is inadvertantly kill my hatchlings from running out of time and apparantly not being able to keep them fed. :'( Pwllyn. So yeah, gonna see what happens with my purple and black eggs I have now, then gonna let it go for a bit before getting new ones. Anyone who wants to click them, they're down there somewhere.

That is all.

So I kinda wish I could be a fly on the wall at work today, even tho it's my day off and I need to get home and do laundry. 3 days in a row earlier this week we were at least $10 short when the final deposit was done at the end of the night. Last night when I did said deposit we were $68.52 short. Of course I double counted and got Kyle, the other keyholder who was there with me to count, still couldn't find the money. Only common factor between yesterday and the days earlier in the week was that our newest employee was working. Our 18 year old newest employee who is on house arrest (I don't know why) and is not allowed to drive and has had at least 2 court hearings since he started less than a month ago. Now, I'm not holding his past against him, but seeing as he was the only common factor between all 4 days? So I called my manager (who was off) and let him know about the shortage. Now, Kyle and I had been thinking it was the new kid, but hadn't said anything to Clarence. First thing he said when I told him was "I think we know who it is." So yeah, I kinda want to be there to see how this gets handled.

Ok, I should know better than to come home from work at 3pm and take a 5 hour nap. Now I still can't get back to sleep (although I'm getting close) and I have to be at work at 10. Argh. And I need to remember to get batteries (which I've known I had to do since Thursday lol) so that the calculator doesn't die in the middle of Leah's lovingyouin1963 algebra assignment/test.

Happy day! My manager is leaving! Today would've been his last day, but the lady who was gonna be our temporary had to leave the company and move halfway across the country or something to keep her ex husband from throwing their 15 year old son in jail. I have no idea other than that lol. But Clarence is leaving as soon as we have someone to take his place!!! And hopefully the snafu with payroll is fixing itself now that my correct SSN is in the system (???). And I only did a very small amount of the reset today, most of what was done was by the guys! Considering I did 16 feet of it all but by myself in 2 days this week, that is amazing.
And I have a hatchling! It's name is Pwllyn and it is apparently a water dragon, taking after it's father. I am so much happy right now. And Leah lovingyouin1963 and I are going to the fabric store tomorrow for supplies and probably to IHOP for dinner. I love this weekend-ish thingy!

Wow, I just realized that I've been living in this house for a year. So doesn't seem like that long lol. I need to figure out how I'm gonna go about squirreling money to get an apartment, I don't want to still be here next July. Yes, I like my landlady, but I miss the freedom of having my own place, being able to go into the kitchen in the middle of the night without worrying about waking her up (she sleeps on the sofa in her own home). Even when I lived with my parents I could do that, plus laundry late at night without worrying about waking anyone up. It's the only time I really have to do anything and it rankles me that I can't use it to its full potential. But I keep giving myself more projects to start on, which require purchasing stuff and spending free time working on them and argh. Today will be spent cleaning and stitching lol. That's the closest I can come to productive on my day off.
